THE PERANAKAN MUSEUM:
MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR

The double greeting has been melded in a way that makes them relevant across the Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year period. This melding of letters creates a visually intriguing experience for the onlooker. The use of translucent mesh to replace the existing blinds affords a Peek-a-Boo aesthetic that is familiar to Peranakan fashion but with a contemporary graphical twist. During the design process, it was also a pleasant coincidence that the 14 blinds allows for the 2 sets of 14 letters/symbols to fit snugly within the beautiful architectural elements of the museum. With Art Direction by Michael Lee and Visual Communications by Joanne Pang, the artwork welcomes the public to take a breather and bask in the festivities.
